Daily Cleaning and Sweeping

Begin daily cleaning your marble floor on a daily basis by dust mopping or sweeping the floor. This is so that you can remove all the loose dirt, dust and debris that can scratch your surface. Use a soft-bristled broom, or a microfiber dust mop. Be sure to get corners and beneath furniture where dust likes to hide. Frequent sweeping discourages the accumulation of grit-like particles that may dull the marble’s surface.

Gentle Mopping

After sweeping, wash the floors with a mild, pH-neutral cleaner made expressly for marble. Put a marbling tile in your kitchen (or, if smaller, in your bathroom or powder room), and you will be able to swirl, roll and drop your dough as you please without worrying what happens when your wine glass tips over or your hand gets goofily dirty. Avoid harsh chemicals in your mix. “Harsh chemicals will etch the marble,”. “No acidic cleaners, no abrasive scrub brushes.” Nor is it a good idea to expose your marble to extremes of heat or cold. Combine the cleaner and warm water as directed on the product label. Spread the cleaning solution to cover your floor with a soft mop (like a microfiber mop).

Rinse Thoroughly

Mop the floors with clean, warm water after mopping to eliminate any remaining cleaner. Residue may also streak or otherwise mar marble. You can rinse with a l clean water mop and bucket, or you can just rinse by changing the water in your mop bucket often. Be sure to wring the mop thoroughly to prevent too much water from remaining on the floor that could potentially create water spots.

Quick Spill Daily Cleaning

Deal with spills promptly to avoid stains. When spills happen clean them up with a soft cloth or paper towel immediately. For spills such as coffee, juice or wine, which can stain marble, move fast to blot and clean up. Do not scrub the spill; this will only spread the spill. If the spill has already dried, you might require a special marble stain remover (always test it in an inconspicuous spot first).

Protecting Your Floors Through Daily Cleaning

Place mats at entrances to catch dirt and debris before it pounces on the marble floors. Place furniture pads under tables, chairs and other furniture legs to avoid scratching. Do not push heavy objects on the floor. To keep their beauty and life, clean and maintain marble floors regularly.
